Better

Psalms 84:10 – “For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God Than dwell in the tents of wickedness.”

In a recent time of prayer, the Lord gave me permission to speak the word better over my life, family, finances, and ministry. What is God saying? He is saying, “in the midst of chaotic times and shaking I have better for my children.” We do not have to live in fear, but we can pray in faith and expect to experience better things.

Dictionary.com defines the word better as follows:

1.    “to increase the good qualities of; make better; improve:

2.    to improve upon; surpass; exceed:”

The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines better as “to make more tolerable or acceptable, to make more complete or perfect, and to surpass in excellence.”

The Lord desires to bless His children. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Ephesians 1:3 says, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.”

The New Testament Book of Hebrews is the book of better things. Hebrews 8:6 says, In that He says, “A new covenant,” He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.” We can declare better over our lives because we have a better covenant built on better promises.

The Old Testament is filled with miracles. Noah built an ark and he along with his family were saved when God judged the earth with a flood. Moses and the children of Israel witnessed miracles. God brought the ten plagues on the Egyptians and miraculously brought them out of Egypt. He opened the Red Sea, and they walked across on dry ground. He closed the sea and drowned the army of Pharoah. Hebrews 11:29 says, “By faith they passed through the Red Sea as by dry land, whereas the Egyptians, attempting to do so, were drowned.” Joshua and the children of Israel witnessed the opening of the Jordan River at flood time and walked across on dry ground. The Prophets Elijah and Elisha performed miracles and witnessed the supernatural power of God.

All of these were under the Old Covenant. We have a better covenant. If God worked miracles under the Old Covenant, then how much more will He work supernaturally today? We can decree and declare better over every circumstance in our lives.

Rebuilding the Broken Altar of Prayer

In Matthew 21: 12-13 , “ Then Jesus went into the temple of God and drove out all those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves. 13 And He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’” Jesus made this declaration, “My house shall be called a house of prayer!”  I believe that God is calling us back to the altar of prayer.  For several weeks the Lord has dealt with me about rebuilding the broken altar of prayer in our personal and corporate lives.  If we are going to see spiritual breakthrough in our churches and communities then we must rebuild and return to the altar of prayer. Wayman Rogers writes, “The ministry of prayer is the most important of all ministries in the church.  Prayer creates the atmosphere and binds the powers of darkness so the gospel of Jesus can go forward and the church can prosper.  This is the area that

The Shout of a King is Among Them

Numbers 23:21 - “He has not observed iniquity in Jacob, Nor has He seen wickedness in Israel. The Lord his God  is  with him, And the shout of a King  is  among them.” In this passage of Scripture, the king of Moab had hired the prophet Balaam to speak a curse over the children of Israel.   He saw Israel as a threat to his kingdom.   Numbers 22:2-3 – “Now Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites. And Moab was exceedingly afraid of the people because they were many, and Moab was sick with dread because of the children of Israel.” When the enemy sees the people of God rising up in faith, he becomes very concerned and moves to keep us from fulfilling our assignment.   We learn in Numbers, Balaam could only speak what the Lord gave him to speak.   Instead of a curse he speaks a blessing. The enemy seeks our destruction, but God!   Listen to the conversation between God and Satan in Job 1:8-10, “Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you conside

They Turned Back in the Day of Battle

Psalms 78:9 – “ “The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.”             Ephraim was the younger of two sons of Joseph.   His first born was Manasseh.   It was Ephraim that received the blessing of Jacob.   The tribe of Ephraim became the largest of the ten northern tribes of Israel.   Many times the Bible used the name Ephraim to represent the whole nation of Israel.             In verse 9 they are armed and carrying bows.   They are dressed, equipped, and ready to battle.   Yet we learn that they turned back in the day of battle.   The Bible identifies this as sin.   To turn back in the day of battle was displeasing to God.               To be armed meant that they were equipped with armor, a sword, and a shield.   The Apostle Paul writes in Ephesians 6:11 to instruct us to put on the whole armor of God.   Like the children of Ephraim, we are equipped for battle. The following scriptures reveal where we are to engage the e
