Isaiah 9:6 – “For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Tinsel is a “decorative garland material that mimics the effects of ice or icicles.” [1]   It is used during the Christmas season to decorate Christmas trees.   According to Wikipedia, Tinsel was invented around 1610 in Nuremberg, Germany.   It was added to the Christmas tree to enhance the flickering of the candles that were used to light the tree. [2] Hollywood is often referred to as Tinseltown because of the glamor of the movie industry.   Tinseltown is known for its bright lights and glamorous lifestyles. Our society tends to idolize those the world promotes as beautiful and talented. The Paparazzi obsessively follow them trying to get the perfect picture to sell to magazines and media outlets. Christmas is a holiday that celebrates the arrival of a baby!   Not just any baby, but a special baby born in a small Middle-eastern village some two thousand years ago.   On that first Christmas night shepherds came to see this special baby lying in a manger.   The Magi from the East followed a bright star to the place of this child’s birth.   Who was this newborn infant?   Who was this baby born to a young unmarried teenage girl on a cold Judean winter’s night?   This baby was not just another baby born on this rebellious planet!   This baby was more than what was discernible with the human eyes.   The Word of God gives us insight into who this baby was: Luke 2:8-14 says, “And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.   And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them:   and they were sore afraid.   And the angel of the Lord said unto them, fear not:   f

A Season of Divine Intervention Galatians 4:4-5 The Christmas season is one that celebrates the birth of a Savior.   It records the birth of the long promised Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ. Sadly, in our society this season has become very secular. It is a holiday filled with all kind of holiday sales, bargains, pageants and programs.   There are holiday movies; classic television shows that date back to our childhood.   This season is characterized by busyness and hurrying around to find that last minute gift for the ones we love. This is also a season for family.   Many will travel great distances to be with family and friends that they only see a couple of times of year.   It is also a time for worship.   We will gather together to worship and remember the birth of mankind’s Savior.
