The Genesis 12:3 Dilemma

Genesis 12:1-3 – “Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”             Israel is a small Middle Eastern Nation.   Its landmass is approximately the size of New Jersey.   This small county with a population that is a fraction of the size of the larger nations of the world dominates the news broadcasts and the headlines of our day.             What is the reason for all this attention?   The answer can be found in the prophecies of Zechariah.   Zechariah 12:2-3 teaches, “Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem.   And it shall happen in that day that I will make Je

A Coming Storm

Matthew 7:24-27- “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.   “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”             In this passage of scripture Jesus gives the parable of the two builders.   The first builder is a wise man who made sure his foundation was sure by building his house on the rock.   The second is referred to as a foolish man, who built his house on the sand.   This foolish builder has a faulty foundation that will not withstand the storms that will come.             Verse 25 reads, “And the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds ble
