Entering into 2017 - The Year to War for Breakthrough

Hebrews 4:12 – “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

I believe it is important that we take time to pray and listen to what the Spirit is saying to the church for 2017. You may say, “I’m still looking for the fulfillment of last year’s promises.”  I believe that year’s promises overlap and we build on them. The lessons we learned last year become a foundation for where we are going in the coming new season.

We need prophetic direction because we are in what 2 Timothy 3:1 defines as “perilous times.”  In 1 Kings 22:7 King Jehoshaphat was in a tough place with two other kings.  The King made this statement. “Is there not still a prophet of the Lord here, that we may inquire of Him?” Like King Jehoshaphat and these two kings we are in a very difficult place.  We need to hear the word of the Lord.

God gives prophetic direction to position us to enter into our assignment.  Your place of assignment in this season will be the place where we draw our supply.  As we pray and spend time waiting in the presence of the Lord, He will give revelation about what we are experiencing and our future.

In Jeremiah 33:3 the Scriptures declare, “Call to Me, and I will answer  you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” As we pray and spend time waiting in His presence, He will give revelation about what we are experiencing and about our future.  Daniel 2:22 reads, “He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, and light dwells with Him.”

Prophetic ministry is for our edification, exhortation, and comfort (1 Corinthians 14:3).  The Apostle Paul gave these instructions concerning to Timothy on how to respond to prophetic ministry.  1 Timothy 1:18, “This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare.”

Over the past few weeks I have been hearing the following five things concerning the year we are entering.  Please examine these things and pray with me for greater insight.

A Year of Warfare – One strong prophetic voice has declared the year as the “Year of the Clashing Swords.”  There will be war in the natural as well as the spiritual realm this year.  This year the sword of the Lord will come down into the earth.

A Year of the Watcher – One of the Hebrew words for angels translates as watcher.  There will be angelic activity this year.  When God initiates a new day there will be angelic activity.  God uses angels to carry out His plans on the earth.

A Year of Wealth – A key Scripture for this season is Deuteronomy 8:18. God desires to prosper His people this year. We need to ask God for strategies to prosper in this season.  God desires to bless you so you can bring resources into the kingdom of God.

A Year of Breakthrough Worship – Malachi 2:3 reads, “The one who breaks open will come up before them; they will break out, pass through the gate, and go out by it; their king will pass before them, with the Lord at their head.” There will be powerful moves of the Spirit this year.  This year will be called a year of breakthrough. As we worship and listen for His instructions the Breaker will break into our circumstances and bring victory.

A Year of a New Wineskin – God is bringing forth a new wineskin in this season.  Mark 2:22 reads, “And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine bursts the wineskins, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins.”

Rebuilding the Broken Altar of Prayer

In Matthew 21: 12-13 , “ Then Jesus went into the temple of God and drove out all those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves. 13 And He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’” Jesus made this declaration, “My house shall be called a house of prayer!”  I believe that God is calling us back to the altar of prayer.  For several weeks the Lord has dealt with me about rebuilding the broken altar of prayer in our personal and corporate lives.  If we are going to see spiritual breakthrough in our churches and communities then we must rebuild and return to the altar of prayer. Wayman Rogers writes, “The ministry of prayer is the most important of all ministries in the church.  Prayer creates the atmosphere and binds the powers of darkness so the gospel of Jesus can go forward and the church can prosper.  This is the area that

The Shout of a King is Among Them

Numbers 23:21 - “He has not observed iniquity in Jacob, Nor has He seen wickedness in Israel. The Lord his God  is  with him, And the shout of a King  is  among them.” In this passage of Scripture, the king of Moab had hired the prophet Balaam to speak a curse over the children of Israel.   He saw Israel as a threat to his kingdom.   Numbers 22:2-3 – “Now Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites. And Moab was exceedingly afraid of the people because they were many, and Moab was sick with dread because of the children of Israel.” When the enemy sees the people of God rising up in faith, he becomes very concerned and moves to keep us from fulfilling our assignment.   We learn in Numbers, Balaam could only speak what the Lord gave him to speak.   Instead of a curse he speaks a blessing. The enemy seeks our destruction, but God!   Listen to the conversation between God and Satan in Job 1:8-10, “Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you conside

I Hear the Sound of Abundance of Rain

I Hear the Sound of Abundance of Rain 1 Kings 18:41-46 Then Elijah said to Ahab, “Go up, eat and drink; for there is the sound of abundance of rain.”  42  So Ahab went up to eat and drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; then he bowed down on the ground, and put his face between his knees,  43  and said to his servant, “Go up now, look toward the sea.” So he went up and looked, and said, “There is nothing.” And seven times he said, “Go again.” 44  Then it came to pass the seventh time, that he said, “There is a cloud, as small as a man’s hand, rising out of the sea!” So he said, “Go up, say to Ahab, ‘Prepare your chariot, and go down before the rain stops you.’” 45  Now it happened in the meantime that the sky became black with clouds and wind, and there was a heavy rain. So Ahab rode away and went to Jezreel.  46  Then the hand of the Lord came upon Elijah; and he girded up his loins and ran ahead of Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.        One of the most fasci
