Entering into 2016 - A Year to Stake Your Claim

Isaiah 54:1-3 – “Sing, O barren, You who have not borne! Break forth into singing, and cry aloud, You who have not labored with child! For more are the children of the desolate Than the children of the married woman,” says the Lord. “Enlarge the place of your tent, and let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings; Do not spare; Lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes. For you shall expand to the right and to the left, and your descendants will inherit the nations, and make the desolate cities inhabited.”

This year is the year to “Stake Your Claim.”  In Hebrews 11:6 we learn, “Without faith it is impossible to please God.”  This year we are going to stake our claim and secure our future.  We are going to make declarations of faith in advance of our breakthrough.

Isaiah 54:2-3 from the Message Bible reads, “Clear lots of ground for your tents!  Make your tents large. Spread out! Think big! Use plenty of rope, drive the tent pegs deep. You’re going to need lots of elbow room for your growing family. You’re going to take over whole nations; you’re going to resettle abandoned cities.”

We are going to “drive the tent pegs deep.”  We are going to stake our claim concerning the promises God has made to us.  What is God saying to us for this coming year?  Each year I pray and ask the Lord for direction for the coming new year.

We need prophetic direction because we are in what 2 Timothy 3:1 defines as “perilous times.”  In 1 Kings 22:7 King Jehoshaphat was in a tough place with two other kings.  The King made this statement. “Is there not still a prophet of the Lord here, that we may inquire of Him?” Like King Jehoshaphat we are in a very difficult place.  We need to hear the word of the Lord.

God gives prophetic direction to position us to enter into our assignment.  Your place of assignment in this season will be the place where we draw our supply.  As we pray and spend time waiting in the presence of the Lord, He will give revelation about what we are experiencing and our future.

Over the last few weeks I have been hearing the following four things concerning this year we are entering into.  Please examine these things and join me in praying for greater insight.

1.     A Year of Great Victory –This will be a year to secure our victory.  To stake your claim means to make a faith declaration concerning your future.  This year will be a great year for those who are seeking the Lord with their whole hearts.  Jeremiah 29:13 reads, “And you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.”  This promise is for those who are hungry for His presence.  Matthew 5:6 says, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.”
2.    A Year of Violence – This will be a violent year.  The rage and violence that began in the last season will continue into this year.  The enemies plan is to bring strife, division, and discord.  He is going to do his best to attack the unity in the Body of Christ.  There will be continued violence in the Middle East and in our nation.  We must pray and listen carefully to the Holy Spirit in this season.  If He speaks, warns, or impresses you about not going to a public place or gathering, you need to heed His warning.  The enemy is stirring up strife and division to prevent us from entering into the move of God’s Spirit that He desires to bring.  God is calling us to be agents of reconciliation.  We cannot allow the attitudes and anger of our day to affect our relationships.  We must be a people of prayer.  1 Thessalonians 5:16 encourages us to “Pray without ceasing.”
3.    A Year of Political Volatility – The coming election will not be business as usual.  It will be a volatile year politically.  Some political pundits are predicting that the Republican party could have a brokered convention.  There are some major shakeups coming in both political parties.
4.    A Year of Visitation – God will visit His people this year.  What happens when there is a visitation of God’s Spirit?  In Exodus 3:7-10 God visited Moses in the wilderness in a burning bush.  He told Moses two things.  The first is found in verse 7, “I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters.”  The second is in verse 8, “So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians.”  When He comes down He comes with great power.  He comes to establish His people.

This will be a year of victory, a year of violence, a year of political volatility, and a year of visitation.

Rebuilding the Broken Altar of Prayer

In Matthew 21: 12-13 , “ Then Jesus went into the temple of God and drove out all those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves. 13 And He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’” Jesus made this declaration, “My house shall be called a house of prayer!”  I believe that God is calling us back to the altar of prayer.  For several weeks the Lord has dealt with me about rebuilding the broken altar of prayer in our personal and corporate lives.  If we are going to see spiritual breakthrough in our churches and communities then we must rebuild and return to the altar of prayer. Wayman Rogers writes, “The ministry of prayer is the most important of all ministries in the church.  Prayer creates the atmosphere and binds the powers of darkness so the gospel of Jesus can go forward and the church can prosper.  This is the area that

The Shout of a King is Among Them

Numbers 23:21 - “He has not observed iniquity in Jacob, Nor has He seen wickedness in Israel. The Lord his God  is  with him, And the shout of a King  is  among them.” In this passage of Scripture, the king of Moab had hired the prophet Balaam to speak a curse over the children of Israel.   He saw Israel as a threat to his kingdom.   Numbers 22:2-3 – “Now Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites. And Moab was exceedingly afraid of the people because they were many, and Moab was sick with dread because of the children of Israel.” When the enemy sees the people of God rising up in faith, he becomes very concerned and moves to keep us from fulfilling our assignment.   We learn in Numbers, Balaam could only speak what the Lord gave him to speak.   Instead of a curse he speaks a blessing. The enemy seeks our destruction, but God!   Listen to the conversation between God and Satan in Job 1:8-10, “Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you conside

I Hear the Sound of Abundance of Rain

I Hear the Sound of Abundance of Rain 1 Kings 18:41-46 Then Elijah said to Ahab, “Go up, eat and drink; for there is the sound of abundance of rain.”  42  So Ahab went up to eat and drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; then he bowed down on the ground, and put his face between his knees,  43  and said to his servant, “Go up now, look toward the sea.” So he went up and looked, and said, “There is nothing.” And seven times he said, “Go again.” 44  Then it came to pass the seventh time, that he said, “There is a cloud, as small as a man’s hand, rising out of the sea!” So he said, “Go up, say to Ahab, ‘Prepare your chariot, and go down before the rain stops you.’” 45  Now it happened in the meantime that the sky became black with clouds and wind, and there was a heavy rain. So Ahab rode away and went to Jezreel.  46  Then the hand of the Lord came upon Elijah; and he girded up his loins and ran ahead of Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.        One of the most fasci
