2012 A Year of Breakthrough

At the beginning of each year I like to spend time in prayer concerning the coming New Year.  For the last few weeks I have simply heard that 2012 will be a year of breakthrough.  I believe that the church needs prophetic direction in order to prepare and be positioned for victory and breakthrough.
I believe this prophetic cycle began in 2010.  In late 2009 the Lord began to deal with me about 2010 being a year of movement.  God repositioned and redeployed a number of us in order to position us for the coming decade.
In late 2010 my family moved from Maryland to a new pastorate in Greenwood, South Carolina.  Why?  The Lord brought us to Greenwood so that we could be a part of the harvest for this region.  2011 has been a year of transition and change.  There have been many changes especially in the nations of the earth.  We have witnessed the words of Luke 21:25 – ““And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring.”
Many would say that 2011 has been a year of disorder and chaos.  We have witnessed riots throughout the world.  Dictators who have ruled the nations for decades were overthrown and have been replaced by new leadership.  In our own nation we have the occupy Wall Street movement that has spread to other major cities across the United States.
Our government continues to be divided and opinion polls show that most Americans are fearful of the future and don’t trust our political leaders.  When you study the number eleven in Scripture you learn that it represents disorder.
We are in a harvest season that began last year and will continue for three years.  Many of these prophetic promises that God gives to us will begin in this year and then continue into subsequent years.
Several things that started in 2011 will continue into this year and subsequent years.  There will be a continued separation and division between the spiritual and carnal church will be more pronounced and will continue to grow. For those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, they will see a release of supernatural power. This will bring about a separation. Some churches will separate while new ministries will be born and will thrive when they embrace the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Ministries that refuse to hear the voice of God and reject the move He desires to bring will die and only be a memory.
The year 2012 will be a year of breakthrough.  It will be a year that will be characterized by the miraculous.  There will be a visitation this year.  Signs and wonders, miraculous healings, and supernatural supply will accompany this visitation.  There are three things that I believe God has spoken to me about in the coming year.  They are as follows:
1.    A Year to Rise – This will be a year for the Church to rise up in the power of the Holy Spirit and possess our inheritance.  One of the synonyms for the word, breakthrough, is to rise.
We must seize our moment in time.  The Messiah was referred to as the breaker in Micah 2:13.  “The One who breaks open the way will go up before them; they will break through the gate and go out. Their King will pass through before them, the LORD at their head.” (NIV) This will be a year of sudden breakthroughs.  Suddenly without warning God will break things open for His covenant people.  There are going to be breakthroughs in our families, our finances, and for our congregation.  God’s favor will intervene for you.

·      Micah 2:13
·      Malachi 4:2
2.    A Year of Restitution – Restitution is defined as, “reparation made by giving an equivalent or compensation for loss, damage, or injury caused; indemnification. The restoration of property or rights previously taken away, conveyed, or surrendered.” [1]  This will be a year that the enemy has to return things that have been stolen and delayed.  This can be a year of restitution if we will ask the Lord for those things that were stolen to be returned.  One part of this restitution will be reconciliation.  Watch how God restores and heals relationships that have been strained and lost in this season.  When this reconciliation takes place there will be a spiritual blessing that is released as a result of the reconciliation.  Let me encourage you to pray for those relationships that you believe God wants to heal and restore.
·      John 10:10
·      Proverbs 6:31
3.    A Year of Revolution – This will be a year of revolutionary change.  These changes will come as a result of divine visitation and revival.  One of the characteristics of visitation will be radical change.  This move of God’s Spirit will be revolutionary.  When men and women encounter God they are never the same as a result of their visitation. These changes are necessary for the future.  If we embrace this visitation and allow God to do what He desires in our personal and corporate lives He will bring forth a new identity that will change the face of the church and position us for greater breakthroughs and influence.

Rebuilding the Broken Altar of Prayer

In Matthew 21: 12-13 , “ Then Jesus went into the temple of God and drove out all those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves. 13 And He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’” Jesus made this declaration, “My house shall be called a house of prayer!”  I believe that God is calling us back to the altar of prayer.  For several weeks the Lord has dealt with me about rebuilding the broken altar of prayer in our personal and corporate lives.  If we are going to see spiritual breakthrough in our churches and communities then we must rebuild and return to the altar of prayer. Wayman Rogers writes, “The ministry of prayer is the most important of all ministries in the church.  Prayer creates the atmosphere and binds the powers of darkness so the gospel of Jesus can go forward and the church can prosper.  This is the area that

The Shout of a King is Among Them

Numbers 23:21 - “He has not observed iniquity in Jacob, Nor has He seen wickedness in Israel. The Lord his God  is  with him, And the shout of a King  is  among them.” In this passage of Scripture, the king of Moab had hired the prophet Balaam to speak a curse over the children of Israel.   He saw Israel as a threat to his kingdom.   Numbers 22:2-3 – “Now Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites. And Moab was exceedingly afraid of the people because they were many, and Moab was sick with dread because of the children of Israel.” When the enemy sees the people of God rising up in faith, he becomes very concerned and moves to keep us from fulfilling our assignment.   We learn in Numbers, Balaam could only speak what the Lord gave him to speak.   Instead of a curse he speaks a blessing. The enemy seeks our destruction, but God!   Listen to the conversation between God and Satan in Job 1:8-10, “Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you conside

I Hear the Sound of Abundance of Rain

I Hear the Sound of Abundance of Rain 1 Kings 18:41-46 Then Elijah said to Ahab, “Go up, eat and drink; for there is the sound of abundance of rain.”  42  So Ahab went up to eat and drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; then he bowed down on the ground, and put his face between his knees,  43  and said to his servant, “Go up now, look toward the sea.” So he went up and looked, and said, “There is nothing.” And seven times he said, “Go again.” 44  Then it came to pass the seventh time, that he said, “There is a cloud, as small as a man’s hand, rising out of the sea!” So he said, “Go up, say to Ahab, ‘Prepare your chariot, and go down before the rain stops you.’” 45  Now it happened in the meantime that the sky became black with clouds and wind, and there was a heavy rain. So Ahab rode away and went to Jezreel.  46  Then the hand of the Lord came upon Elijah; and he girded up his loins and ran ahead of Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.        One of the most fasci
