Time to Cross Over

Recently in prayer, I felt that the Lord was saying, "It is time to cross over." We are close to the Passover Season. Passover represents a time of crossing over. In Mark 4:35 we read the words of Jesus, "On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, let us cross over to the other side." Why did Jesus feel compelled to cross over to the side? He felt to cross over because there was an assignment on the other side with a man with an unclean spirit. This is a season to cross over into your new assignment. God always has an assignment for you. We must find what God is asking of us? Please note in Mark 4:36-41 that Jesus and His disciples encountered a storm on the Sea of Galilee as they endeavored to cross over to the other side. I believe there is a principle here. When you endeavor to cross over into your new assignment and enter your new season, you will encounter a battle or a storm designed to prevent you from crossing over into your inheritance.

There are a number of instances where the children of Israel crossed over into a new season. In the Old Testament Israel crossed over into a land that flowed with milk and honey. When we cross over we are leaving the old behind and crossing over into something new. In the Old Testament Israel crossed over into a land that flowed with milk and honey. When we cross over we are leaving the old behind and crossing over into something new.

What are we crossing over into? What does it mean, "It is time to crossover?" I believe that we are crossing over into three different things:

  1. God is calling us to cross over into our inheritance. Ephesians 1:11-12 reads, "In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will." "That we who first trusted Christ should be to the praise of His glory." What do I mean by inheritance? We know that we have an inheritance in heaven, and for the most part that is all that we have been taught. You can hear it in our hymns and songs about heaven. We have an inheritance in heaven and that is secure in Christ, but there is also a spiritual inheritance for us today. The inheritance for the children of Israel was the Promised Land of Canaan. I have heard many teachings that talked about Canaan land as a type of heaven and our eternal inheritance, but that is not true. Canaan land represents the abundant life that is available through our relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. God has provided the believer with a rich spiritual inheritance, both here and in heaven. Psalms 16:5 reads, "O LORD, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You maintain my lot." Dr. Chuck Pierce writes in his book, "Possessing Your Inheritance," ""Our inheritance not only includes spiritual things. It also can include physical inheritance or material things that God has set aside for each of us. God has a specific interest in each of us as individuals. Each of us has an inheritance that is uniquely our own."

  2. God is calling us to enter into our destiny assignment. Every blessing and promise that God gives to you is related to your destiny. We are a people of promise. God has a prophetic destiny for your life. You will find your destiny when you find your purpose. Destiny is defined as "A predetermined course of events. It may be conceived as a predetermined future, whether in general or an individual." (Dictionary.com) Listen to the words of Jeremiah 1:5 – "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you: and I ordained you a prophet to the nations." Many believers walk through life never knowing who they are in Christ, or what God has called them to be.

  3. God is calling us to enter into abundance. What do I mean by abundance? God has an abundant life for us. John 10:10 reads, "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that you may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." To live an abundant life does not necessarily mean that we are rich in this world's goods. An abundant life can involve the following blessings:

  • An abundant life is having peace with God.

  • An abundant life is having a relationship with Christ.

  • An abundant life is having your sons and daughters saved and serving the Lord.

  • An abundant life is the blessing of health.

  • An abundant life will be the result of laying up treasures in heaven.

God is calling us to cross over. It is time to cross over out of division and into unity. The Apostle Paul challenged the church in Ephesians 4:1-3"I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to have a walk worthy of the calling with which you were called," verse 2 "with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, verse 3 "endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace." God is calling us to cross over into our inheritance. Jeremiah 29:11 reads, ""For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." God has exciting plans for you individually and for our church corporately, but we must be willing to cross over into our inheritance.

Jesus crossed over death and the grave, hallelujah! I am excited about the new thing God is doing all around us. In the mid 1990s God gave me Isaiah 43:18-19 as a word for my life: "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the waste-land." Isn't that an awesome promise?
Father, help us to have eyes to see and ears to hear your Holy Spirit instructing and guiding us, and the will to obey You in all things. "I can do all things through Jesus Christ who strengthens me."
Jesus is so wonderful. Praise Him in every circumstance.

Rebuilding the Broken Altar of Prayer

In Matthew 21: 12-13 , “ Then Jesus went into the temple of God and drove out all those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves. 13 And He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’” Jesus made this declaration, “My house shall be called a house of prayer!”  I believe that God is calling us back to the altar of prayer.  For several weeks the Lord has dealt with me about rebuilding the broken altar of prayer in our personal and corporate lives.  If we are going to see spiritual breakthrough in our churches and communities then we must rebuild and return to the altar of prayer. Wayman Rogers writes, “The ministry of prayer is the most important of all ministries in the church.  Prayer creates the atmosphere and binds the powers of darkness so the gospel of Jesus can go forward and the church can prosper.  This is the area that

The Shout of a King is Among Them

Numbers 23:21 - “He has not observed iniquity in Jacob, Nor has He seen wickedness in Israel. The Lord his God  is  with him, And the shout of a King  is  among them.” In this passage of Scripture, the king of Moab had hired the prophet Balaam to speak a curse over the children of Israel.   He saw Israel as a threat to his kingdom.   Numbers 22:2-3 – “Now Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites. And Moab was exceedingly afraid of the people because they were many, and Moab was sick with dread because of the children of Israel.” When the enemy sees the people of God rising up in faith, he becomes very concerned and moves to keep us from fulfilling our assignment.   We learn in Numbers, Balaam could only speak what the Lord gave him to speak.   Instead of a curse he speaks a blessing. The enemy seeks our destruction, but God!   Listen to the conversation between God and Satan in Job 1:8-10, “Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you conside

I Hear the Sound of Abundance of Rain

I Hear the Sound of Abundance of Rain 1 Kings 18:41-46 Then Elijah said to Ahab, “Go up, eat and drink; for there is the sound of abundance of rain.”  42  So Ahab went up to eat and drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; then he bowed down on the ground, and put his face between his knees,  43  and said to his servant, “Go up now, look toward the sea.” So he went up and looked, and said, “There is nothing.” And seven times he said, “Go again.” 44  Then it came to pass the seventh time, that he said, “There is a cloud, as small as a man’s hand, rising out of the sea!” So he said, “Go up, say to Ahab, ‘Prepare your chariot, and go down before the rain stops you.’” 45  Now it happened in the meantime that the sky became black with clouds and wind, and there was a heavy rain. So Ahab rode away and went to Jezreel.  46  Then the hand of the Lord came upon Elijah; and he girded up his loins and ran ahead of Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.        One of the most fasci
