A New Sound for A New Season

            As we enter into the season of spring we will recognize the many sounds of the season.  Each season is characterized by different sounds.  After the cold winter season many of us look forward to the sounds of the birds singing in the new season of spring.

            God is calling us to recognize the new sound that will come in our new season.  In Revelation 4:1 – “After these things I looked, and behold a door standing open in heaven.  And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, ‘come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.’”  

The Lord is calling us to a higher place. He is calling us to a deeper intimacy, a greater commitment, and a greater revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ. How do we get to the next level?  How do we ascend to a higher place?  We must begin to speak the language of the next level.

The Psalmist writes, “Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord?  Or who may stand in His holy place?” “He who has a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, nor sworn deceitfully.” (Psalms 24:3-4) We must ascend the hill of the Lord in worship.  Worship is not just singing, clapping your hands, or dancing before the Lord.  Worship is not something we do just on Sunday morning.  Worship comes from a surrendered heart, and it is to become a part of our lifestyle.

When you examine the Scriptures you will find that when God is doing new things, and is about to inaugurate a new season that it is preceded or accompanied by a sound.  This sound is birthed in worship.  What is it?  I believe that it is the sound of heaven.  When our worship connects with the worship of heaven it gives birth to a distinct sound in the earth.  

Why is worship important? Because we position ourselves in worship.  Worship positions us for the next level, and prepares us for the new season.  In II Chronicles 20 the writer gives us valuable instructions on how to position ourselves in worship.  

Verse 1 reads, “It happened after this that the people of Moab with the people of Ammon, and others with them besides the Ammonites, came to battle against Jehoshaphat.”  Verse 2 – “Then some came and told Jehoshaphat, saying, ‘A great multitude is coming against you from beyond the sea.”  Like Jehoshaphat and the children of Judah a great enemy encompasses us.  Our foes are well armed and we are outnumbered, but like Jehoshaphat we have the power of prayer and worship at our disposal.  Are you ready to go to a new place in your relationship with the Lord?  Then you must position yourselves and make a new sound in worship!

Rebuilding the Broken Altar of Prayer

In Matthew 21: 12-13 , “ Then Jesus went into the temple of God and drove out all those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves. 13 And He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’” Jesus made this declaration, “My house shall be called a house of prayer!”  I believe that God is calling us back to the altar of prayer.  For several weeks the Lord has dealt with me about rebuilding the broken altar of prayer in our personal and corporate lives.  If we are going to see spiritual breakthrough in our churches and communities then we must rebuild and return to the altar of prayer. The Tent Peg of Jael

Judges 4:21-22 – “Then Jael, Heber’s wife, took a tent peg and took a hammer in her hand, and went softly to him and drove the peg into his temple, and it went down into the ground; for he was fast asleep and weary.
