The Shout of a King is Among Them

Numbers 23:21 - “He has not observed iniquity in Jacob, Nor has He seen wickedness in Israel. The Lord his God is with him, And the shout of a King is among them.”
In this passage of Scripture, the king of Moab had hired the prophet Balaam to speak a curse over the children of Israel.  He saw Israel as a threat to his kingdom.  Numbers 22:2-3 – “Now Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites. And Moab was exceedingly afraid of the people because they were many, and Moab was sick with dread because of the children of Israel.” When the enemy sees the people of God rising up in faith, he becomes very concerned and moves to keep us from fulfilling our assignment.
We learn in Numbers, Balaam could only speak what the Lord gave him to speak.  Instead of a curse he speaks a blessing. The enemy seeks our destruction, but God!  Listen to the conversation between God and Satan in Job 1:8-10, “Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?” So Satan answered the Lord and said, “Does Job fear God for nothing? Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side?”
Balaam was hired to speak a curse over the children of Israel, but God had ordained a blessing.  Like the children of Israel, we have the shout of a king is among us.  Balak, the king of Moab, became angry.  Numbers 23:11-12 records is conversation with Balaam, “Then Balak said to Balaam, ‘What have you done to me? I took you to curse my enemies, and look, you have blessed them bountifully!’ So he answered and said, “’Must I not take heed to speak what the Lord has put in my mouth?’”
At times we may feel weak and all alone. We pray, and the heavens are silent.  There is good news.  The shout of a king is among us. Isaiah 14:27 says, “For the Lord of hosts has purposed, and who will annul it? His hand is stretched out, and who will turn it back?” This king is not an earthly king, but He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.  A prophet was hired to bring a curse, but God only allowed him to speak a blessing.  He prophesies of a coming king.  “A Star shall come out of Jacob, A scepter shall arise out of Israel, and he shall batter the brow of Moab.”
The King we love and serve is all-powerful.  The following Scriptures give us an insight into His power:
·      I John 3:8 – “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil."
·      Luke 10:19 – “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
·      Colossians 2:15 - " Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.”
·      Matthew 28:18 – “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.”
·      Psalms 24:7-10 – “Lift up your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, The Lord mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O you gates! Lift up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory. Selah”
Who is this king?  He is the King of glory.  We have the shout of a king resident within us.

A Declaration of Ownership

Psalm 24:1-2 – “The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, The world and those who dwell therein. For He has founded it upon the seas, And established it upon the waters.”               Psalm 24 is the third part of a trilogy with Psalm 22 and 23. David opens Psalm 22 prophetically with the words Jesus would say on the cross, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me? Why are You so far from helping Me, And from the words of My groaning?” Psalm 23 reveals our Lord as the Great Shepherd who cares for His sheep. Psalm 24 reveals the Lord as the King of Glory.  Psalm 24 begins with a declaration of ownership. The Psalmist identifies the Lord as the Creator. Psalm 24:2 says, “He has founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the waters. Psalm 89:11 says, “The heavens are Yours, the earth also is Yours; The world and all its fullness, You have founded them.”  The beginning of cr...

Rebuilding the Broken Altar of Prayer

In Matthew 21: 12-13 , “ Then Jesus went into the temple of God and drove out all those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves. 13 And He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’” Jesus made this declaration, “My house shall be called a house of prayer!”  I believe that God is calling us back to the altar of prayer.  For several weeks the Lord has dealt with me about rebuilding the broken altar of prayer in our personal and corporate lives.  If we are going to see spiritual breakthrough in our churches and communities then we must rebuild and return to the altar of prayer. Wayman Rogers writes, “The ministry of prayer is the most important of all ministries in the church.  Prayer creates the atmosphere and binds the powers of darkness so the gospel of Jesus can go forward and the church can prosper....

The Tent Peg of Jael

Judges 4:21-22 – “Then Jael, Heber’s wife, took a tent peg and took a hammer in her hand, and went softly to him and drove the peg into his temple, and it went down into the ground; for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died. And then, as Barak pursued Sisera, Jael came out to meet him, and said to him, “Come, I will show you the man whom you seek.” And when he went into her  tent,  there lay Sisera, dead with the peg in his temple.”             The book of Judges covered a chaotic time in Israel’s history.   A key Scripture for Judges in found in Judges 21:25, “Every man did was right in his own eyes.” There were seven cycles of apostasy, where the covenant children of God would turn away from the principles of the Word of God.             When they had godly leadership they would serve the Lord.   When that leader would die they would turn f...
