Speaking with a Prophetic Voice

  I Corinthians 14:1-3 – “Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men. We are in the decade of declaration. Our words are important. God has given His church a prophetic voice. As the body of Christ, we are to infuse the world around us with salt and light. Matthew 5:13 says, “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.” We believe in the fivefold ministry. Acts 4:31 – “And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.”             In Luke 24:49, Jesus instructed His disciples, “to tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.” The New International Version says, “stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.” In Luke 24:47-48 He reveals the Great Commission, “and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And you are witnesses of these things.”             In Acts 1:8 Jesus says, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” The Holy Spirit empowers us to do ...
