The Entrance of the King - Triumphant Entry

Zechariah 9:9 -  “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!   Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem!   Behold, your King is coming to you;   He is just and having salvation,   Lowly and riding on a donkey,   A colt, the foal of a donkey.”             In Matthew 21 there is a vivid word picture of the Triumphant Entry of Christ into the Holy City of Jerusalem. This took place just five days prior to His death. The timing of His entry into Jerusalem was very important. His entry occurred on the tenth day of the month of Nissan in the spring of the year. Five days later on the fourteenth day of the month the Feast of Passover was to be celebrated. This entry was important because the Passover lamb was taken up and set apart on this day.  The lamb had to be set apart for four days to make sure there were no blemishes.  Jesus is our Passover lamb.  He was our substitute and...

I AM Personal

Exodus 3:13-14 – “Then Moses said to God, “Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ‘What is His name?’ what shall I say to them?” And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’” God created the heavens and the earth. He hung the stars in the sky, and He set the earth in its orbit around the sun. Hebrews 11:3 says, By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.” He created man in His own image and likeness. He met with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden in the cool of the day. He is powerful but He is also personal. The God who commands angels and administrates the affairs of His vast creation has the ability to hear each of us personally when we pray and answer those very prayers. Jeremiah 29:12 says, “then you will ca...

A Powerful Savior

Isaiah 9:6 – “For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”             Jesus is a powerful Savior. The prophet Isaiah prophesied that He would be called “the Mighty God.” He is not just powerful, but He is all-powerful. All powerful means He is a force of unlimited authority and influence, unrestrained and infinite in power. Mighty means, valiant, powerful, strong prevailing, champion, and unmatched.  Bill Bright writes, “God uses His power purposefully. God has unlimited power within Himself and does what He wants with it. God is not a tyrant or a monster God. He is a Father God, a wise God. He uses His power to fulfill His purpose in us and in the world.” The woman with the issue of blood experienced His power when she touched the hem of His garment. Mark...

Christ our Passover Lamb

There are seven major feasts that God established with Israel in the Old Testament. The first of these seven feasts was Passover. Passover always comes in the first month of the year on the Hebrew religious calendar. This month is known as Abib in the Old Testament book of Deuteronomy, and later came to be known as Nissan after the Babylonian captivity.  Although there are a total of seven feasts (the divine number for perfection or completeness in the Bible), God divided the seven festivals into three major festival seasons. Every male was to present themselves before the Lord three times in a year in each festival group.  The Jewish male would travel to Jerusalem for Passover in the spring, Pentecost at the end of spring, and the Feast of Tabernacles in the fall.  The fall festival season consisted of Rosh Ha Shana (Trumpets), The Day of Atonement, and Tabernacles. The first group is Passover, the Feast of Unleavened Bread, and First Fruits.  These three festivals ...

Who is this King of Glory? He is the Lord Strong and Mighty

Psalms 24:7-10 - “Lift up your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, The Lord mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O you gates! Lift up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in.   Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory. Selah” The Psalmist asks the question, “Who is this King of Glory?” He is the Lord strong and mighty. Zechariah 3:17 from the New Living Translation says, “ For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” He is the Lord who is mighty to save. He is a mighty Savior. Who is this King of Glory? He is a saving King. Psalms 2:6 says, “ Yet I have set My King On My holy hill of Zion.” There is...
