The Cross a Symbol of Victory
Galatians 6:14
“But God forbid that I should boast
except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been
crucified to me, and I to the world.”
The cross stands today as a symbol
of victory. It represents victory over
sin, victory over death, and ultimate victory for the believer through the Lord
Jesus Christ. When Christ suffered on
the cross, He did so for humanities sin.
He died so that we can live a life of victory and freedom.
In John 10:10 we learn that “Christ came that we might have life, and
have it more abundantly.” What does it
mean to experience abundant life? The
Amplified Bible reads, “I came that they may have and enjoy
life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).”
The cross stands today as a symbol
of victory. Is it possible to enjoy
life? It is possible to experience
abundant life. Where do we find this
kind of life? We find it in a
relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Apostle Paul writes in Galatians 2:20, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I
live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the
flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for
me.”
Have you been crucified with
Christ? Jesus gave us this admonition in Luke 9:23, “Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come
after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” If we are going to enter into the abundant life that Christ
provides through His sacrificial death, then we must be willing to take up His
cross and deny ourselves.
