The Power of the Spoken Word

Genesis 1:1-5   – “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day.”             God spoke the world into existence.  Hebrews 11:3 says, “By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.” Throughout the first chapter of Genesis it reads, “Then God said.”  Psalms 33:6-7 says, “By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, And all the ...

Seven Times Around

Joshua 6:1-5   – “Now Jericho was securely shut up because of the children of Israel; none went out, and none came in. And the Lord said to Joshua: “See! I have given Jericho into your hand, its king, and the mighty men of valor. You shall march around the city, all you men of war; you shall go all around the city once. This you shall do six days. And seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark. But the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets. It shall come to pass, when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, that all the people shall shout with a great shout; then the wall of the city will fall down flat. And the people shall go up every man straight before him.”              There is a larg...

The Festival of Tabernacles

The Feast of Tabernacles In the Twenty-third chapter of Leviticus the Lord spoke to Moses about establishing seven major feasts.    Leviticus 23:1-2 reads, “And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, ‘ Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them:    ‘the feasts of the LORD, which you shall proclaim  to be holy convocations, these are My feasts.’” The first of these seven feasts is Passover. Passover always comes in the first month of the year on the Hebrew religious calendar.    The seventh and last of the feasts comes in the fall of the year in the seventh month.    It is the Feast of Tabernacles. Although there is a total of seven feasts (the divine number for perfection or completeness in the Bible), God divided the seven festivals into three major festival seasons. Every male was to present themselves before the Lord three times in a year in each festival group.    The Jewish male would travel to Jerusalem for Pass...

Prayer for Financial Breakthrough

Heavenly Father, We give You love, glory, and honor. We declare that You are worthy of praise. We, at South Greenwood PHC, join together in steadfast faith as we lift our fasting and prayer to You (Matt 6). We thank You for sending Your Son to conquer all things for us, causing us to be more than conquerors (Rom. 8:37). We thank You that, in His name, power is released for all that we need (Mark 16:17). We know You reward those who diligently seek You (Heb. 11:6). We rejoice that You are eager to answer prayer and that You delight in answering prayer (Gen. 15:2; Matt. 6:13). We bind the spirit of poverty and loose the finances necessary to operate all ministries at SGPHC (Mal. 3:10; Deut. 2:7; Deut. 8:18) We ask that Your truth penetrate every mindset hindering Your progress at SGPHC. We ask that obedience to Your word in giving be established and strengthened (Mal.3).  Cause Your people to see the truth about being faithful to You as You are always faithful to them. Break the pow...

Filled with the Spirit

In the early twentieth century, an outpouring of the Holy Spirit forever changed the world.   This revival that gave birth to what was later called the Pentecostal movement.   The Pentecostal-Charismatic movement today numbers approximately six hundred million. This revival had its roots in the holiness movements of the late 1800s and the revival that began in Topeka, Kansas, and later spread to the Asuza Street Mission in Los Angeles, California.   One of the characteristics of this revival was the Infilling of the Holy Spirit accompanied by speaking with other tongues.   This experience is defined in the Bible as the “Baptism of the Holy Spirit.”   What does it mean to be baptized in the Holy Spirit?   It means to be immersed into the Holy Spirit, to be in-filled with the power of the Holy Spirit so that we might live an overcoming life.   In Matthew 3:11 – John the Baptist gave this prophecy, “I indeed baptize you with water ...

Lord of the Details

“The Lord directs the steps of the godly, He delights in every detail of their lives” (Psalm 37:23).               The Lord reigns above time. He has already been in your future. He has every detail of your life planned. Psalm 139:16 states, “You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.” The Lord has amazing things on the path He has planned for you.               The key to reaching your potential and greater success is to stay on the path the Lord has planned. This is accomplished by submitting your will to the Lord. He takes care of the rest, directing daily decisions and circumstances or providing redirection if necessary.               Everything in life is a process, sometimes with pain attached. Be encouraged, the Lord holds your moments in victo...
