II Chronicles 7:14 – “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
This powerful verse begins with the words, “If My people.” It ends with the words, “then I will hear.” We will win the battles we are facing on our knees. The storms we are facing will only be won in the closet of prayer. Matthew 6:6 says, “But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”
God promises to hear our petitions and heal our land when we humble ourselves and pray. I Peter 3:12 says, “For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their prayers; But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” The Apostle John writes in I John 5:15, “And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.”
God promises to hear our prayers. Psalms 34:17 says, “The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles.” The cry of “if My people” is not a cry of anger or vengeance, but a cry for God’s intervention. “If My people who are called by my name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sins and heal their land.”
In our text God promises to forgive our sins and to heal our land. I John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Jesus taught us to pray for forgiveness in the Lord’s prayer. Matthew 6:12 instructs, “And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors.”
God promises to forgive and heal. Sin brings a curse. Forgiveness brings restoration and healing. Our prayer should be, Forgive our sins and heal our land.
