II Peter 1:4 – “By which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”
The Bible is filled with wonderful promises. Throughout the Bible, the Lord made covenant promises to His children. Joshua 21:45 from the New Living Translation says, “Not a single one of all the good promises the Lord had given to the family of Israel was left unfulfilled; everything he had spoken came true.” God is faithful to keep the promises He has made in His Word.
There are many promises for the believer in the Word of God. Ephesians 1:3 reveals, “He has blessed us with every spiritual blessing.” There are numerous promises we could list, but the following will encourage you in your spiritual walk of faith:
- We have the promise of His presence. Hebrews 13:5 - “I will never leave you, nor forsake you.”
- We have the promise of His provision. Philippians 4:19 - “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
- We have the promise of His pardon. Isaiah 55:7 - “And to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.”
- We have the promise of His protection. Psalms 91:11 - “For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways.”
- We have the assurance of His presence during times of persecution. II Corinthians 4:8-9 — “We are hard pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; verse 9 — persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.”
- We have the promise of His peace. Philippians 4:7 - “And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
- We have the promise of His prosperity. 3 John 2 - “Beloved I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.”
- We have the promise of His perfection. I John 3:2 - “Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not been revealed what we shall be, but we know that He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.”
God loves to bless His children. James 1:7 says, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” How do we realize these promises? We learn in Hebrews 6:11, Abraham entered into His promises through faith and patience. To realize the promises of God, we simply believe.
