The Power of God is Present to Heal

Luke 5:17 - Now it happened on a certain day, as He was teaching, that there were Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting by, who had come out of every town of Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was present to heal them.”

In this Scripture Luke writes, “And the power of the Lord was present to heal.”  I would like to bring this statement into the present.  The power of the Lord is present to heal.  You may question, “how can you bring this statement into the present?”  The answer can be found in Psalms 46:1, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”  Miracles, signs and wonders, and healings continue today.  Hebrews 13:8 reveals, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”

The same Jesus, the One who walked the shores of Galilee, preached the sermon on the mount, overcame a dangerous storm and passed over to the other side, and healed those who were sick and infirmed still heals today.  He is a healing Jesus.  The power of God is present to heal.  He longs to heal those who suffer in their physical bodies.

When you study the four New Testament Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, you discover the ministry of Jesus was characterized by healing.  He was moved with compassion when He was met by those who were sick and suffering.

In Mark 10:46-52, there is a blind man Mark identifies as Blind Bartimaeus.  He is identified by his condition. He is in a hopeless condition, but things are about to change. What happened? Mark 10:47 says, “And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”  Perhaps He had heard about this healing Jesus.  He cried out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Jesus heard the cry of this blind man.  Those around him warned him to be quiet, but he cried out all the more.  Jesus asked him, “What do you want Me to do for you?”  His answer, “That I may receive my sight.”  Verse 52 records what happened, “Then Jesus said to him, ‘go your way; your faith has made you well.’ And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road.”

One of the most debated subjects in Christianity today is the subject of healing. We know Jesus healed the sick in the New Testament, but is healing for today? Perhaps you have wrestled with the question, “Is it God’s will to heal me?” You know He has all power.  You believe He is able; but, is He willing?  There is good news, the One who touched Blind Bartemaeus is both able and willing to touch you today.

Rebuilding the Broken Altar of Prayer

In Matthew 21: 12-13 , “ Then Jesus went into the temple of God and drove out all those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves. 13 And He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’” Jesus made this declaration, “My house shall be called a house of prayer!”  I believe that God is calling us back to the altar of prayer.  For several weeks the Lord has dealt with me about rebuilding the broken altar of prayer in our personal and corporate lives.  If we are going to see spiritual breakthrough in our churches and communities then we must rebuild and return to the altar of prayer. Wayman Rogers writes, “The ministry of prayer is the most important of all ministries in the church.  Prayer creates the atmosphere and binds the powers of darkness so the gospel of Jesus can go forward and the church can prosper.  This is the area that

The Shout of a King is Among Them

Numbers 23:21 - “He has not observed iniquity in Jacob, Nor has He seen wickedness in Israel. The Lord his God  is  with him, And the shout of a King  is  among them.” In this passage of Scripture, the king of Moab had hired the prophet Balaam to speak a curse over the children of Israel.   He saw Israel as a threat to his kingdom.   Numbers 22:2-3 – “Now Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites. And Moab was exceedingly afraid of the people because they were many, and Moab was sick with dread because of the children of Israel.” When the enemy sees the people of God rising up in faith, he becomes very concerned and moves to keep us from fulfilling our assignment.   We learn in Numbers, Balaam could only speak what the Lord gave him to speak.   Instead of a curse he speaks a blessing. The enemy seeks our destruction, but God!   Listen to the conversation between God and Satan in Job 1:8-10, “Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you conside

They Turned Back in the Day of Battle

Psalms 78:9 – “ “The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.”             Ephraim was the younger of two sons of Joseph.   His first born was Manasseh.   It was Ephraim that received the blessing of Jacob.   The tribe of Ephraim became the largest of the ten northern tribes of Israel.   Many times the Bible used the name Ephraim to represent the whole nation of Israel.             In verse 9 they are armed and carrying bows.   They are dressed, equipped, and ready to battle.   Yet we learn that they turned back in the day of battle.   The Bible identifies this as sin.   To turn back in the day of battle was displeasing to God.               To be armed meant that they were equipped with armor, a sword, and a shield.   The Apostle Paul writes in Ephesians 6:11 to instruct us to put on the whole armor of God.   Like the children of Ephraim, we are equipped for battle. The following scriptures reveal where we are to engage the e
