Ephesians 2:1-3 – “ And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.”
Salvation is the pathway of life. Ephesians 2:1 says, “And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins. When we experience salvation, we are born again. In John 3:3 Jesus reveals, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
When we are saved, we experience a resurrection. Ephesians 2:4-5 says, “But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved).” To be dead in trespasses is a spiritual death.
When we are born again by the Spirit of God we pass from spiritual death into spiritual life. John 5:24 records the words of Jesus, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.”
We learn in I John 3:9 that those who are born again are holy seed. We must be awakened. Ephesians 5:14 – “Therefore He says: “Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light.” Our eyes are opened to spiritual things. We come alive in His presence. The Apostle Peter writes in I Peter 3:18, “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit.”
Salvation is the pathway of life. John 10:10 says, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” The last part of this verse reads, “I have come that they might have life, and they may have it more abundantly.” The New Living Translation reads, “My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”
Jesus came to provide us with a rich and satisfying life. I John 5:12 says, “He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.” Salvation is the pathway to true life, a full, rich and satisfying life that overflows with the goodness of God.
