Galatians 4:4-5 - " But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons."
The Christmas season is one that celebrates the birth of a Savior. It records the birth of the long-promised Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ. Sadly, in our society, this season has become very secular. It is a holiday filled with all kinds of holiday sales, bargains, pageants, and programs.
There are holiday movies; classic television shows that date back to our childhood. This season is characterized by busyness and hurrying around to find that last-minute gift for the ones we love.
This is also a season for the family. Many will travel great distances to be with family and friends that they only see a couple of times of the year. It is also a time for worship. We will gather together to worship and remember the birth of mankind’s Savior.
This is a wonderful season and we celebrate all the wonderful things that it brings to our lives, but what does this season really represent? This is a season of divine intervention. It celebrates the fact that God divinely intervened in this fallen creation.
Why did He come? In Galatians 4:4-5 we learn two important things: Verse 4 reads, “But when the fullness of time had come.” The first lesson is that God has a time of intervention. God always moves in the proper or correct time. He sent His Son at the perfect time.
Verse 5 continues, “To redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.” The second lesson is that God’s intervention always brings change. He liberates those who are held in bondage, He brings us into His family, and He gives us an inheritance.
Why not allow this to become a season of divine intervention for you personally. He stands ready to intervene in your life today. The first time He came the world changed. When you allow Him to intervene in your life your world will never be the same.
