Luke 1:37 - “For with God nothing will be impossible.”
There is a popular phrase people are posting on social media, printing on t-shirts, and even face masks: “Faith over Fear.” We are living in fearful times. Fear is one of the devil’s favorite tools. As believers, we do not have to be afraid. II Timothy 1:7 says, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and of a sound mind.”
How do we navigate fearful times? We learn to stand on God’s Word in faith. Mark 11:22-24 says, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, be removed and be cast into the sea, and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”
The Apostle Paul wrote these encouraging words in Ephesians 6:10-18 to prepare us to war with our faith. “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.”
What is our declaration? You must learn to boldly speak our faith. The following Scriptures are good declarations of faith:
- Romans 8:32 – “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
- Romans 8:35-37 – “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: ‘For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.’ Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
- Mark 9:23 – “Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”
- Psalms 27:1 – “The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?” - Isaiah 41:13 – “For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.”
We are not a defeated people, but a victorious people. I Corinthians 15:57-58 says, “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”
