II Corinthians 3:18 – “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
Words are powerful. We must learn to speak God’s Word into every circumstance we face in life. The Scriptures have the power to bring transformation. Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
The Lord spoke these words to Joshua, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success” (Joshua 1:8). We are transformed when we are obedient to the Word of God. Luke 11:28 records the words of Jesus, “But He said, ‘More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!’”
The word transformed is defined as “to change in composition or structure, to change the outward form or appearance of, or to change in character or condition.”[i] One definition of transformation is metamorphosis. Romans 12:1-2 reads, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
We experience transformation when we spend time in His presence. The Apostle Paul reveals in II Corinthians 3:18 we are, “transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” Jesus makes this promise to those who seek Him in John 4:14, “but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”
