In Second Timothy 3:1-5 the Apostle
Paul wrote to his young son in the faith, Timothy. The words in these verses
prophetically read like the headlines in the news today. Verse 1 reads, “But know this, that in the last days perilous times
will come.”
Most would agree that we are living
in what the Apostle Paul defines as perilous or dangerous times. Our society is filled with violence and
stress. In Matthew 24:6 we have words of
Jesus, “And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not
troubled; for all these things must come to pass,
but the end is not yet.”
Jesus reveals in Luke 21:26 that
these days would be characterized by “Men’s hearts failing them from fear and
the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers
of the heavens will be shaken.” How do we address these times? How do we cope with the stress of the days we
are living in?
We must have a word from the very
throne of God. We need truth that will
shepherd us through the difficulty of the dark days that we find ourselves
living in. There are some fundamental truths found in God’s Holy Word that will
form a foundation that will empower us to stand firm and overcome evil in this
last day.
When we experience salvation we are
born again. We enter into the Kingdom of
God. The Apostle Paul writes in
Colossians 1:3, “He has delivered us from the power of darkness and
conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love.” The Bible teaches in Hebrews 12:28 that this
kingdom cannot be shaken.
Today the kingdoms of this world are
experiencing the shaking that has been prophesied for the last days. We do not
have to be afraid because we are part of an unshakable kingdom. The words Jesus spoke concerning the church
in Matthew 16:18 should encourage us today.
“And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build
My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.”
Do you desire to be part of a kingdom
that cannot be shaken? In John’s Gospel
Jesus had a conversation with a religious man by the name of Nicodemus. In John 3:3 the Lord reveals how we gain
entrance into the kingdom of God. “Unless one is born again, he cannot see the
kingdom of God.”
Have you experienced the new
birth? Have you prayed and asked Jesus
to forgive you of your sins and to become your Savior? How do we receive salvation? Romans 10:13 reads, “For whoever calls
on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Why not call on the name of Jesus today
and ask Him to become your Lord and Savior?
You will never be the same and you will become a part of a kingdom that
cannot be shaken.
