I John 1:7 – “But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.”
In our sinful condition, we can not approach a holy God. Isaiah 59:2 says, “But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear.” Jesus became our substitute when He went to the cross. He suffered and died in our place. Galatians 3:13 says, “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, ‘cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree’).”
He atoned for our sins. Hebrews 10:11-14 says, “And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.”
I love the words of the old hymn, “What can wash away my sins? Nothing but the blood of Jesus. What can make me whole again? Nothing but the blood of Jesus.” Jesus our Savior shed His blood so could be forgiven and cleansed from our sins. Revelation 1:5 says, “and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood.”
We are qualified for eternity through His sacrifice at Calvary. He made a way for us to approach God. Hebrews 10:19-20 says, “Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh.”
When we pray to receive Christ we become part of the family of God. In Romans 8:17 we become heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ.” Ephesians 2:13 says, “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.”
Our Savior went to the cross, suffered, bled, and died so we could experience the greatest miracle, the miracle of salvation. It is the blood of Jesus that qualifies us for heaven.
