Luke 6:38 – “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”
Perhaps you have heard the expression, “You cannot out give God.” God is a giver. His giving is motivated out of love. 1 John 4:8 says, “God is love.” John 3:16 teaches, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” When we give in obedience to the Word of God it will bring a blessing. “Give and it shall be given to you.”
God is a giver. James, the half-brother of Jesus, reveals the following about God’s giving nature in James 1:17, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” In Ephesians 4:8 the Apostle Paul writes, “When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men.” He gave “apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers.”
In 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 the Holy Spirit gives nine different gifts of the Spirit. Verse 7 says, “But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all:” The following Scriptures reveal the giving nature of God:
· Isaiah 40:29 – He gives strength to the weak.
· Job 10:12 – He gives life and lovingkindness.
· James 1:5 – He gives wisdom.
· Matthew 7:11 – He gives gifts.
· Psalms 37:4 – He gives you the desires of your heart.
God promises blessings to those who give in obedience to His Word. Deuteronomy 15:10 says, “You shall surely give to him, and your heart should not be grieved when you give to him, because for this thing the Lord your God will bless you in all your works and in all to which every porphyrias put your hand.” Proverbs 11:24-25 says, “Give freely and become more wealthy; be stingy and lose everything. The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.”
