John
14:1-3 – “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also
in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told
you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place
for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I
am, there you may be
also. “
Heaven is a prepared
place. It has been prepared for those
who love and serve the Lord Jesus Christ.
Jesus refers to it as “the Father’s house.” In Revelation 4:1 the Apostle
John receives the following invitation, “After these things I looked, and
behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was
like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you
things which must take place after this.”
What
did He see? Revelation 4:2-5 gives a
glimpse of what the Apostle witnessed, “Immediately I was in the Spirit; and
behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne. And He who sat there
was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and there was a rainbow
around the throne, in appearance like an emerald. Around the throne were
twenty-four thrones, and on the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting,
clothed in white robes; and they had crowns of gold on their heads. And from
the throne proceeded lightnings, thunderings, and voices. Seven lamps of fire
were burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.”
It is a
city with streets of transparent gold, walls of Jasper, and gates of pearl. There are twelve gates that are open because
there is no night. The Lamb of God is
the light. It is tough to imagine the
splendor of this celestial city. In
Revelation 21:4 we learn it will be a place where there will be no more tears,
sorrow, or death.
Heaven is
glorious place, but the best thing about Heaven will be Jesus. Esther Kerr
Rusthoi wrote a beautiful song that describes the day when we see Jesus, It will be Worth it All. The chorus is as follows:
It will
be worth it all when we see Jesus!
Life’s
trials will seem so small when we see Christ.
One
glimpse of his dear face, all sorrow will erase.
So,
bravely run the race till we see Christ.[i]
