The Way Out

John 14:6 – “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

On a recent family trip to London, England our family spent a lot of time riding the tube (train) to different sights in the city.  I noticed at each train station the signs did not read “exit,” but read, “Way Out.”  I began to think about how Jesus is our “way out.”

Jesus is the “way, the truth, and the life.” He is the way to salvation and deliverance.  In Acts 4:12 Peter revealed, “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”  In Luke’s Gospel we learn of Jesus mission, “for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

Jesus is our way out.  The moment you receive Christ you are born again.  You experience forgiveness and a way out of guilt and shame. In Genesis 3:8, Adam and Eve hid from God when He came to the garden in the cool of the day. Proverbs 28:13 reads, “He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.”

Sin brings condemnation. Romans 8:1 reads, “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.”  The word “condemnation” is a judicial term.  When an individual is condemned in a court of law there is an expected penalty.  The Commentary Notes on Romans 8:1 from the Full Life Study Bible reads, “freedom from condemnation, victory over sin, and fellowship with God come through union with Christ by the indwelling Holy Spirit."[i]

Jesus is our way out of the bondage of sin.  We learn in John 8:34, “Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.”  Jesus is our way out of the bondage sin produces.  John 8:36, “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.”  Paul wrote to the Galatians, “Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.”  How do we experience the way out of the yoke of bondage?  Jesus is the way out.  Romans 10:13 instructs, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

The sign at the London train stations read, “Way Out.”  Remember Jesus is the “way, the truth, and the life. No one comes the Father except through Me.”

Rebuilding the Broken Altar of Prayer

In Matthew 21: 12-13 , “ Then Jesus went into the temple of God and drove out all those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves. 13 And He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’” Jesus made this declaration, “My house shall be called a house of prayer!”  I believe that God is calling us back to the altar of prayer.  For several weeks the Lord has dealt with me about rebuilding the broken altar of prayer in our personal and corporate lives.  If we are going to see spiritual breakthrough in our churches and communities then we must rebuild and return to the altar of prayer. Wayman Rogers writes, “The ministry of prayer is the most important of all ministries in the church.  Prayer creates the atmosphere and binds the powers of darkness so the gospel of Jesus can go forward and the church can prosper....

The Fourth Month - The Month to See

In   1 Chronicles 12:32   we learn that the Sons of Issachar had an understanding of the times and knew what Israel ought to do.  Like the sons of Issachar, we need to have an understanding of the times.  We are in a time of uncertainty and fear, therefore we need prophetic insight into what God has for us and desires to do in our lives. For some time I have been praying and asking God to give me insight into how He moves in time. The Sons of Issachar were masters of the calendar.  In  Exodus 12:2  the Lord establishes the Hebrew calendar.  “This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you.”  The Hebrew calendar begins at Passover.  This is the calendar that God ordained and introduced in the Bible.  To better understand how God moves in times you can study the Hebrew calendar and the patterns that have been established in the Word of God.  Our Gregorian calendar is on a differ...

The Fifth Month - Av - The Month to Hear

--> The Fifth Month – Av The Month to Hear For a number of years I have been studying and praying for insight into how the Lord moves and works in time. We learn in 1 Chronicles 12:32 that the Sons of Issachar had an understanding of the times and knew what Israel ought to do.  They were masters of the Hebrew calendar.   In Exodus 12:2 the Lord established the Hebrew calendar. “This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you.” The Hebrew calendar begins at Passover in the month of Nissan.  This calendar was God ordained and introduced in the Bible.   To better understand how God moves in times you can study the Hebrew calendar and the patterns that have been established in the Word of God.  Our Gregorian calendar is on a different time cycle than the Word of God. The Bible refers to the month of Av as the fifth month counting from Passover.  It corresponds to the months of ...
