Matthew 6:33 – “ Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”             The key to spiritual growth and maturity is to make your relationship with God a priority.   Jesus encourages you to “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.   To prioritize your relationship with God is to put God first in your life. First things in the Bible are very important.   Proverbs 3:9-10 teaches, “Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the first fruits of all your increase; so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine.”   At the beginning of each month the Jewish people practice “first fruits.”   This is a time of celebration and worship to celebrate the new month.   The Jewish people would bring an offering to recognize that God was their source and to sanctify and celebrate the provision He would bri...

Rosh Hashanah Entering into a New Season Leviticus 23:1-2 There are seven major feasts that God established with Israel in the Old Testament.  Leviticus 23:1-2 reads, “And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘The feasts of the Lord, which you shall proclaim  to be holy convocations, these  are  My feasts.’” There are a total of seven feasts, but God divides the seven feasts into three major festival seasons. Every male was to present himself before the Lord three times a year in each festival group.  The Jewish male would travel to Jerusalem for Passover in the spring, Pentecost at the end of spring, and the Feast of Tabernacles in the fall.  The fall festival season consisted of Rosh Hashanah (Feast of Trumpets), The Day of Atonement, and Tabernacles. Mark 5:2 – “ “And when he had come out of the boat, immediately there met Him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit.”               In the fifth chapter of Mark we are introduced to a man possessed with unclean spirits.   As we study this chapter we learn that this man was tormented day and night.   He cut himself with stones and lived among the tombs in the place of death.   The town officials didn’t know how to handle him.   They bound him with chains and fetters.   A fetter is simply a shackle designed for the feet.               Verse 4 reveals that he often broke the chains and the shackles and that nobody could tame him.   In verse 6 when he saw Jesus he ran and worshipped him.   In verse 7 he cried out with a loud voice.   I believe this was a cry of desperation.   In verse 8 Jesus simply addresses th...
