The Ministry of Angels

Hebrews 1:14 - “Therefore, angels are only servants—spirits sent to care for people who will inherit salvation.” NLT             The subject of angels is a fascinating study in the Word of God.   When God initiates a new day or new order there will be angelic activity. One sign of revival and restoration are testimonies of angelic activity.   God uses angels to carry out His plans on the earth. Martin Luther writes, “An angel is a spiritual creature created by God without a body, for the service of Christendom and of the church.” [i]               Angels are divine messengers. There is an angelic announcement in the first chapter of the Gospel of Luke.   A priest named Zacharias met an angel as he was ministering in the temple.   We learn in Luke 1:19 that this angel is Gabriel who stands in the presence of God.   He came to announce the birth of John the Baptist, who would prepare the way of the Lord.             It was Gabriel who announced the birth of the Messiah. An Angelic Announcement that Changed the World

Luke 1:11-13 – “Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing on the right side of the altar of incense.  12  And when Zacharias saw  him,  he was troubled, and fear fell upon him.   But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.”             In the first chapter of Luke there is an angelic announcement.   This announcement is about the birth of a son.   The child’s name would be John.   The angel told Zacharias, the priest, his son would be great in the sight of God.   He would bring joy, gladness, and many would rejoice at his birth.             The angel Gabriel came to announce a miracle.   Zacharias and his wife Elizabeth were up in age.   Elizabeth was barren and most likely had given up hope of having a child. Yet, God had other plans. This child would prepare the way for the promised Messiah and turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their

His Name Shall be Called ..... Wonderful

Isaiah 9:6 – “ For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” The Prophet Isaiah is referred to as “The Messianic Prophet.” He recorded many prophetic promises concerning the coming Messiah.   It is Isaiah who writes, “Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign; behold, the virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel (Isaiah 7:14).   He writes prophetically of His mission, His rejection by His own people, His sacrificial suffering, and His kingdom.   He reveals His name shall be called Wonderful. In Judges 13 the Angel of the Lord appeared to Manoah and his wife.   He told them they would have a son and he would be a Nazarite and begin to deliver the Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.   In verse 17 Manoah asked the Angel of the Lord, “What is your name?” He answers in verse 18, “It is w
