Overcoming the Spirit of Discouragement

Isaiah 61:3 – “To console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.” As a believer you have an unseen enemy.   You are engaged in a spiritual conflict.   The enemy will attack your mind, your will, and your physical body.   This enemy comes against you to keep you from growing in your walk and relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.               In II Corinthians 11:3 the Apostle Paul reveals that the enemy corrupts the minds of individuals.   He hates “Christ in you.”   When you invited the Lord into your heart you became a new creation in Christ Jesus.   The Bible teaches in Colossians 1:13, “He has delivered us from  the  power of darkness and conveyed us   into   the   kingdom  of  the  Son of His love.”             When you became a believer the enemy lost a subject in his k

No Weapon Shall Prosper

Isaiah 54:17 – “No weapon formed against me shall prosper.” The Bible reveals that the believer is involved in a spiritual conflict.   When you prayed to receive Christ as Savior, you were enlisted in the army of God as a soldier.   The scriptures teach that Jesus is the Commander of this army (Joshua 5:13). Timothy was instructed to fight the “good fight of faith” (1 Timothy 6:12). The Apostle Paul writes in Ephesians 6:10-18 that the believer is involved in a spiritual conflict. Verse 12 reads, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”             The enemy has a number of weapons in his arsenal that he will use against you. He loves to intimidate, bring false accusations, attack your physical body with sickness, and attack your thought life. Throughout the Bible he is identified by numerous names.   These names

The Overcoming Power of Testimony

Revelation 12:11 – “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.”               If you have experienced salvation you have a story.   You have a testimony that is unique to your life and situation.   To testify is to tell your story.   Everything that God has done for you, no matter how large or small, is a testimony of His delivering power.            Jesus taught in John 17:16 when an individual was born again they were in the world, but no longer of the world.   John 3:3 refers to this as being “born from above.”   Your testimony is a tool that God provides to enable you to become an overcomer.            You were created for spiritual growth and progress.   As a believer you are enlisted as a soldier of the cross in the army of the Lord.   Before Joshua took the city of Jericho he first had an unexpected meeting with the Commander of the Lord’s Army.   In Joshua 5:13 he has His sword
